LEGACY PHP & WORDPRESS MODERNIZATION

Your PHP application. Rebuilt for what’s next.

We assess the application you run today, then rebuild it in a new repository — preserving its business logic, proven with parity tests, and handed over to your team. Specialist-led, not an automatic code converter.

ENGAGEMENT STRUCTURE3 separate documents · nothing starts without your signature
01 · PAID ENGAGEMENTAssessmentWe study the existing application under an agreed scope.
02 · DOCUMENTAssessment ReportFindings, risks and options. Yours to keep, whatever you decide.
03 · DOCUMENTMigration ProposalA separate proposal: target stack, phases, scope, terms.
04 · DOCUMENTMigration ContractWork begins only after signature, authorization and payment.
05 · DELIVERYBuild → Test → HandoverA new application in a new repository, transferred to you.
01 — WHY MODERNIZE

The application still works. That is exactly why it’s risky to leave alone.

a

Unsupported runtimes

Older PHP versions and frameworks stop receiving security fixes. Upgrading in place is often harder than it looks.

b

Knowledge concentrated in few people

Business rules live in code only one or two people understand. Every change becomes slower and more cautious.

c

Integration friction

Connecting modern APIs, identity providers and data tools to a monolith takes workarounds that add risk.

d

User expectations moved on

Customers and staff compare your interface with the best software they use every day.

02 — ASSESSMENT AND MIGRATION

Two decisions, made separately.

An Assessment tells you what you have and what it would take to move. Whether to migrate — and how — is a second decision, made with the Report in hand.

Assessment

STEP ONE

A fixed-scope, paid review of your existing application by Talya Smart engineers.

  • —Architecture, dependencies and data model
  • —Business-critical workflows and integrations
  • —Risks, unknowns and candidate target stacks
Output → Assessment Report

Migration

ONLY IF YOU PROCEED

A separate Migration Proposal, then a Migration Contract. Development starts after authorization and payment.

  • —New application in a new repository
  • —Phased delivery with testing at each stage
  • —Documented handover to your team
Documents → Proposal, then Contract
03 — TECHNOLOGY OPTIONS

The right target depends on what your application actually does.

We recommend a stack in the Assessment Report — often a combination, rarely a single framework.

PYTHON · DJANGO

Data-heavy business systems

ERP, CRM and back-office apps with complex rules and relational data.

php2python.org →
NODE.JS · NESTJS

APIs and integration backends

Service backends, event-driven flows, queues and third-party integrations.

php2node.com →
NEXT.JS

Interfaces and dashboards

Server-rendered product UIs. Heavy processing usually lives in a separate backend.

php2next.com →
ASTRO

Content and marketing sites

WordPress replacements, optionally with a headless CMS. Plugins assessed one by one.

04 — MIGRATION METHODOLOGY

Rebuild, not translate.

Line-by-line conversion carries old problems into new code. We rebuild behavior deliberately, using the old system as the specification.

  1. 1MapWorkflows, data, integrations, edge cases.
  2. 2DesignTarget architecture and phase plan.
  3. 3BuildNew repository, reviewed increments.
  4. 4VerifyParity tests derived from legacy behavior.
  5. 5RehearseData migration dry-runs before cutover.
  6. 6Hand overDocs, access, knowledge transfer.
05 — BUSINESS CONTINUITY

Your current system keeps running until you decide otherwise.

Legacy stays live

We never push to your legacy repository or touch production during the build.

Authorized cutover

Runs only under a separate, signed cutover authorization in an agreed window.

Two rollback plans

Separate DNS/traffic and data rollback plans, defined before cutover.

Your code, your repo

Ownership terms are set out in the Contract.

06 — ASSESSMENT DELIVERABLES

What the Assessment Report contains.

sample report spread — redacted
  1. 01Current-state architecture
    Components, runtime versions, hosting, dependencies.
  2. 02Functional inventory
    Modules, workflows, roles, scheduled jobs.
  3. 03Data and integrations
Schema overview, external systems, migration concerns.
  4. 04Risk register
Technical, operational and unknown areas, ranked.
  5. 05Target architecture and estimate
Recommended stack, alternatives considered, migration outline, and a non-binding effort and budget estimate.
07 — FREQUENTLY ASKED
Do you use AI to convert our code automatically?+

No. Specialists analyze and rebuild your application. AI-assisted review is optional, off by default, and only used with a separate consent that names the provider. Every output is reviewed by a specialist, and nothing is converted automatically.

Are we committed to a migration after the Assessment?+

No. The Assessment and its Report are a standalone engagement. A Migration Proposal and Contract are separate documents you can accept or decline.

When do you need access to our source code?+

Only after an Assessment is agreed and you have signed separate read-only access and code-processing authorizations. Code is analyzed statically and never executed. Please don’t send code through the contact form.

Can you tell us the migration cost now?+

Not responsibly. The Assessment Report includes a non-binding effort and budget estimate based on modules, integrations, data and tests — never lines of code alone. Binding terms only appear in a Migration Proposal.

Do you work with WordPress sites too?+

Yes. Content sites can often move to Astro; commerce, memberships, booking and custom plugins are assessed individually.
